About Us

Legacy is more than a buzzword to us

A family restaurant built over three generations

Tanner grew up working in his family's restaurant, Hires Big H, which his grandfather founded in Salt Lake City in 1959. Tanner watched his father and uncle carry on his grandfather's legacy by creating a culture where everyone was treated like family. They both were incredible stewards over their employees, customers, and community — an example Tanner hopes to emulate.

An inheritance of hard work

Matt's grandfather was the first Orlandi born in America. He served in the Air Force and worked whatever jobs it took to make ends meet. Matt's father built on that foundation, graduating from medical school at the top of his class and going on to a career defined by long hours and a commitment to the people he served. Matt learned early on that everything we have — and every opportunity ahead of us — traces straight back to the sacrifices of those who came before.

We included "Legacy" in our name because no word better reflects our intention to honor what you have built, while carrying it forward as our own — committing our time, resources, and livelihoods to lead your company through its next chapter

Who we are

Tanner Hale

Tanner has spent his career close to the people who make a business run — customers, teams, and the relationships that hold them together. Over five years in go-to-market teams at a growing software company, he helped build the onboarding and training that got new team members productive quickly, developed key sales processes the business relied on as it scaled, and managed the client relationships that mattered most. He's seen firsthand how the right processes and the right people compound into durable growth, and he brings that same discipline to how he leads.

Tanner was born and raised in Utah and loves to be in the outdoors. When he's not focused on the business, you'll likely find Tanner on an adventure in the mountains.

Matt Orlandi

Matt has spent his career working alongside business owners and management teams to help companies grow and operate more effectively. His experience includes scaling a Midwest fiber-optic service provider — growing revenue by over 200% through site expansion and strategic acquisitions; and a Texas-based power generation manufacturing company — standing up a new production facility and executing key hires to strengthen the management team. Matt understands both the day-to-day challenges of scaling a business and the importance of preserving what made it successful in the first place.

Like Tanner, Matt grew up in Utah. He met his wife in high school over a decade ago, and they now spend much of their time wrangling their two crazy kids. Matt grew up playing whatever sport was in season and nowadays gets his competitive fix from golf and rec hockey — though his golf game still has a long way to go.

Better together

Matt and Tanner met at business school and quickly became close friends. Each of us wanted to buy and run a company someday, and with our complementary backgrounds in sales and M&A, we realized we'd go further together. We formed Wasatch Legacy Partners early in 2026 and haven't looked back since.

How We're Different

We are buying one business to run for the long term

We're not a private equity fund with fifteen different companies, and we're not looking to flip yours in three years. We're two operators looking to buy a single business. We'll run it ourselves and invest everything we have in its success. We are backed by a small group that includes current and former CEOs and seasoned investors. When we find the right fit, we can move quickly and close with certainty.

As a seller you have options. Here's the honest difference

FAQ

Questions we often get from owners

Will you keep my employees?

Yes. Your team is a big part of why we'd want your business in the first place. We plan to invest in the people who made it work — not replace them.

What happens to the company name and brand?

It stays. We're buying your legacy, not erasing it. The name, the reputation, and the relationships you've built are exactly what we want to carry forward.

How is this different from selling to private equity?

A private equity firm buys many companies on a fund timeline. We're buying one business, running it ourselves, and measuring our commitment in decades.

What if I'm not sure I'm ready to sell?

Most owners we talk to aren't. A conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing — and sometimes the most useful thing we can do is help you think through your options.

Can I stay involved after the sale?

If you want to. Some owners stay on for a season to help with the transition; others step away quickly. We shape the handover around your goals.

Do my books need to be perfect before we talk?

No. Come as you are. If things get serious, we'll work through the details together.
